Carragher, very hard on Araujo: "Barça must sell him".

Former player and now commentator Jamie Carragher never leaves anyone indifferent. In recent years he has been characterised by his harsh and controversial opinions and in the last few hours he has taken it out on Ronald Araujo after the penalty committed against Sevilla. For Carragher, the Uruguayan cannot continue at Barça: "Every time Barça face an elite rival, they switch off and that is costing them dearly. If Barça want to do well, they must sell him for sure," he explained on SkySports.

Carragher went further to explain his feelings about Araujo in recent seasons: "I like the attitude Araujo brings to games, but there comes a time when passion is not enough. Defending at this level is about decision making and not just tackling. And there Araujo has a deficit that ends up hurting his team in decisive moments and games of the season"
The former player was already very critical of some of Ronald Araujo's performances, such as in the play-offs when he was sent off against PSG, and considers that Barça need centre-backs who are much more specific in their marking, as was the case with Íñigo Martínez last season. The Basque centre-back's absence is wreaking havoc at the back as he was marking the offside line very well and commanding his team-mates at the back
Araujo saw a very fair penalty called against Isaac Romero in a decision that began to sink Barça in Sevilla. The Uruguayan was not the main culprit for the debacle, as most of the players were poor, but he was certainly singled out as Hansi Flick replaced him at half-time when he had a yellow card, so he didn't want to take any more risks. Eric Garcia came on in his place
The Blaugrana club renewed Araujo on a long-term deal in January when it looked like he was on the way to Juventus. The Uruguayan was convinced by Deco to stay at the club and has the confidence of Flick, although he has not managed to establish himself in the starting line-up. In fact, this season, the German coach does not have the centre-back pairing well defined, although everything indicated that it would be formed by Cubarsí and Eric García.
