Michael Carrick's representatives have held talks with Manchester United executives at Carrington, as he draws closer to becoming the permanent manager. While the specifics of the discussions remain private, formal negotiations regarding any contract terms have not yet begun.

United's hierarchy has prioritized talks with Carrick, though they remain open to other candidates for next season. With two games left in United's season, the club's leadership aims for a swift appointment before the critical transfer window opens.
Football director Jason Wilcox and CEO Omar Berrada are leading efforts to recommend Carrick's permanent appointment to co-owner Ratcliffe. The 44-year-old former Manchester United midfielder has been the frontrunner for the position after successfully securing Champions League qualification for next season during his interim spell.
Carrick won 10 of his 15 matches in charge, losing only two, guiding United from seventh to third in the Premier League and ensuring a return to Europe's top competition. Officials at Old Trafford have been impressed by his popularity among players and his ability to handle the media.
Despite this, Manchester United insists that no agreement has been reached with any manager for next season. Carrick led United to victories over title contenders Manchester City and Arsenal, before his seven-game unbeaten run was ended by Newcastle in March.

But the former Boro manager proved his ability to bounce back, guiding his team to crucial wins against Champions League rivals Aston Villa, Chelsea, and Liverpool. Carrick has been named on a six-person shortlist for the Premier League Manager of the Season award, alongside Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta.
Outgoing Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola, Brentford's Keith Andrews, and Sunderland's Regis Le Bris also received nominations. Iraola was previously rumored to be a candidate to succeed Carrick, but it is understood he is no longer under consideration by Manchester United.
