Chelsea failed to both hold on and make up vital ground on rivals Liverpool and Manchester City in the title race, after conceding a last-gasp goal to Graham Potter's Brighton and settling for a 1-1 draw.
Once again Romelu Lukaku got himself among the goals, but was denied being the match-winner by forgotten man Danny Welbeck who found the back of the Chelsea net in injury time.
The evening was overshadowed by an injury to Reece James, who left the field with the assistance of medical staff in the first half - just four days before the Blues are set to host Liverpool.
