Chelsea have rejected an opening bid of £40million to sign Mason Mount from Manchester United, according to a report.
United have been long-linked with a move for Mount and have made their first move, but they will have to bid again if they want to sign the England midfielder this summer.
Erik ten Hag has been confident he can persuade Mount to make the move north, but United are some way off agreeing a fee with the London club.
The 24-year-old's future has been up in the air after it was suggested he would love for a new challenge after contract talks stagnated.
He had been linked with a move to Liverpool, but, according to The Telegraph, United have made the first move, though seen their offer rebuffed.
