Director sends major hint
Chelsea director Paul Winstanley has sent a massive hint to Brighton over what the future holds for on-loan centre-back Levi Colwill. Winstanley joined the Blues earlier this season from Brighton after Colwill's loan was completed.
He is now part of the group looking to plan for next season's squad at Stamford Bridge with the 20-year-old a player that is seen an important cog for Mauricio Pochettino.
He has raised fears that keeping hold of him won't be as simple as first thought, though, with a message to the Seagulls saying: "Brighton have done a lot for me. They put their trust in me when others didn’t and I’m a person that loves to repay that. We’ll see. I don’t know what is going to happen [at Chelsea]"
Winstanley's social media actions have proved just how highly he is thought of at the Cobham and may well settle down any rumours linking him with a move away.
Release clause met
Paris Saint-Germain have decided to meet the £51million release clause for Chelsea midfield target Manuel Ugarte, according to reports. The 22-year-old has emerged as a new option for the club in the centre of the park.
Ugarte, who currently plays for Sporting CP, fits the profile of midfield destroyer that the Blues are after but has suitors from across the continent.
Fabrizio Romano wrote: "Paris Saint-Germain have sent first bid to Sporting but different payment terms than €60m release clause. Not done yet. Chelsea are absolutely into the race — Ugarte is one of the names for new #6, list includes Caicedo. [Jorge] Mendes, on it."
