Chelsea fans question key Graham Potter team selection for Everton clash

Christian Pulisic returned to the Chelsea starting line-up in place of Mykhaylo Mudryk, leaving many supporters scratching their heads

Chelsea manager Graham Potter has made three alterations to the side that beat Leicester City 3-1 last weekend. While Benoît Badiashile came in for Marc Cucurella and Reece James displaced Ruben Loftus-Cheek, it was a change in attack that left certain sections of the fanbase questioning the Blues head coach.

After being an unused substitute for Chelsea's wins against Leeds United and Borussia Dortmund, Mykhaylo Mudryk returned to the side for the victory at the King Power Stadium. He showed signs of promise, and even registered his first goal contribution for the club with an assist for Mateo Kovacic's strike.

However, he has to make do with a place on the bench once more as the returning Christian Pulisic instead completes the attacking trio alongside Joao Felix and Kai Havertz. Supporters took to Twitter to question this particular selection choice.

Here is how Twitter reacted to the team news:

@CFCcesarr: "Great to see Kante back, love the back 5, would rather Mudryk than Pulisic."

@MatthewCoutts6: "Why is Pulisic playing instead of Mudryk again!!!!"

@CFCRevamped: "Potter is so weird mann, literally a perfect game for Mudryk with his pace and physicality to disrupt the Everton low block....why is he on the bench making way for a Pulisic that isn't even match fit."

@JosephAdeyinka8: "It's a bit disappointing Mudryk isn't starting games till now, didn't even expect Pulisic to come in ahead of him."

@NoisyMV: "Pulisic???? Why does he keep on with this? #CHEEVE"

@Benham_CFC: "Really not sure why Pulisic is on the pitch, Please prove me wrong... #CheEve"

@IsmailoffMurad: "Where is Mudryk?"

@CFCVibez: "I get it, easing Mudryk in is a good thing, but momentum is also something. He’s just come off a start against Leicester where he played well and got an assist. You’d think keeping that momentum would be better then benching him a week later. No? I’m fully trusting Potter here."
