Christian Pulisic has heaped praise on ex-girlfriend Alexa Melton for 'supporting me in every way' before their split - just weeks after she walked back a wild claim about him joining a dating app.

Glamorous professional golfer Melton confirmed she and Pulisic are no longer together with a brutal comment on Instagram last month, which implied the US soccer star was either unfaithful or already back on the market.

After she posted a series of golf photos on Instagram, one fan said about Pulisic amid rumors of a split: 'This generational fumble will be studied for years to come'.

Melton then replied: 'How many likes to post his Raya profile'.

The accusation sparked outrage on social media, before Melton retracted it just days later by saying: 'I received false info. He is not a cheater. And narrative beyond that is not mine.'

Almost one month later, Pulisic has broken his silence on his ex and stressed that he has nothing but good things to say about her.

'I only look at her in the most positive way,' he said in an interview with Time ahead of this summer's World Cup. 'She was a lot of fun, and she supported me in every way. She wanted to push me to enjoy my life a little bit more and do things with her and do things just in general. And I was grateful for that.'

In 2025, Melton and Pulisic appeared in a documentary together on Paramount Plus. Revealing how they met, he said: ' I slid in the DMs as they call it.'

Melton added: 'I got the DM and I was like "who is this dude with 8m followers and why is he DMing me?"

'And then I scrolled through his Instagram and I was like "Oh he’s a big time soccer player".'

Pulisic appeared smitten with Melton on the documentary and described her as 'a really special girl'.

He continued: 'I guess I never got to a point where I was ready for it and that’s something I’ve really changed my mentality with and also my faith and that in a lot of ways has sort of led me to her.'

Following the end of their relationship, Pulisic's focus is now firmly on this summer's World Cup as he bids to inspire USA to glory on home soil.

Mauricio Pochettino's team begin their World Cup campaign against Paraguay in Inglewood, California, on June 12, before taking on Australia in Seattle, Washington, seven days later.

They conclude their group-stage matches against Türkiye in Inglewood on June 25.

When asked by Time if America has a realistic chance of winning the tournament, the AC Milan star said: 'I can sit in my bed at night and picture holding up the World Cup trophy. I did that as a kid. I’m not going to stop. You have to believe. Why not?'
