Colwill: Serious injury made me more mature, now I am ready to move forward

Chelsea will face Bournemouth this Saturday in the Premier League. Ahead of the match, Chelsea defender Colwill gave an exclusive interview to the club's matchday program, discussing a new chapter in his career and how past difficulties have helped him grow.

A product of the Chelsea academy, Colwill missed most of last season due to injury. This season, under the management of Enzo Maresca, he faces new challenges with a fresh mindset.

Colwill stated, "This is a new chapter in my life, and I feel good now. I have become a different person and learned a lot. I think these changes have made me better, and I am ready to move forward."

"I've experienced highs and lows, and I've also suffered a serious injury. I think I might have already gone through more than what an average player typically encounters in their entire career."

"But all of it has helped me in different ways, allowing me to gain more experience and making me more mature than most 23-year-olds."

In this interview, Colwill also discussed tactical details of Chelsea's three-centre-back system.

This echoes the content featured in this issue's matchday program. In the "Classic Match" section, Chelsea looked back at their 2016-17 Premier League title-winning campaign. In early autumn that year, after switching to a 3-4-3 formation, the team achieved a 13-match winning streak, which included a 3-0 victory over Bournemouth.
