Cristian Stellini has the chance to unleash Tottenham wildcard on Newcastle in top-four race

Cristian Stellini could look to make changes to his Tottenham team for Sunday's crunch Premier League clash away at top-four rivals Newcastle United

After their game on Tyneside, Spurs host Manchester United on Thursday evening before then making the trip to Liverpool three days later. Still in with a shout of a place in Europe's top competition in 2023/24, how they fare over the next seven days really could define their season.

Coming into this weekend's game on the back of a 3-2 defeat against struggling Bournemouth, Stellini ideally needs to switch things about in hope of his team getting back on track. So who could come into the Spurs side to take on Newcastle United? football.london takes a look below.

If Lenglet is not to be in a position to start, that would open up the door for one of Davinson Sanchez or Japhet Tanganga to come into the backline. As Sanchez was given a rough ride by some Tottenham fans in the Bournemouth defeat and was only on the pitch 23 minutes before Stellini elected to change things up, Tanganga could be the one to profit if Lenglet is not fit enough to start.

Catching the eye at the turn of the year when he was given a rare opportunity under Antonio Conte, Spurs fans have been desperate to see more of the player, especially after his performance against AC Milan in the San Siro. Given the need to refresh the team rather than opting for the practically the same XI week after week, Sarr could possibly be a contender to come in for Oliver Skipp.

At the top of his game 12 months ago as he helped Tottenham secure a top-four finish over Arsenal, Dejan Kulusevski has struggled to hit the heights this campaign. Only managing two goals in all competitions, it must be remembered that the Swede is only 22 years of age and that his form is going to fluctuate from time to time.

Yet to start a game for the Lilywhites, Danjuma deserves a shot in the Tottenham side after so far having to settle for six appearances from the bench. Stellini needs to tweak things around going on the current results, with Danjuma someone who could help give the side a much-needed lift and help form a new front three in the process if the boss elects to play his Tottenham wildcard.

Richarlison could be another option to start if he is in a position now to start games from the off following his recent absence.
