Cristiano Ronaldo: another year and milestone in his relentless chase of 1,000

Officially, the calendar year has come to an end for Cristiano Ronaldo, who once again showcased his enduring scoring touch at 40 by finishing 2025 with another goal added to his tally, further shortening the road toward the coveted milestone of 1,000 career goals. It was a familiar reminder that time has yet to dull his instincts in front of goal.

While the result for Al Nassr against Al Ettifaq was not what Ronaldo had hoped for – victory slipped away from the side coached by Jorge Jesus – on a personal level CR7 could take satisfaction from finding the net once more. Even without the win, the goal reinforced his individual consistency.

That strike was his 41st of 2025, bringing the curtain down on the year as he looks ahead to what 2026 may bring, both with Al Nassr and with the Portugal national team. In a World Cup year, he will be chasing what could yet become the most significant title of his career.

With his total for 2025 set at 41 goals, Ronaldo has now recorded three consecutive calendar years surpassing the 40-goal mark. The numbers underline a level of longevity rarely seen at the elite level of the game.

In 2024, the Portuguese star finished with 43 goals – two more than this year – while in 2023 he even broke the 50-goal barrier, reaching 54. That surge came after his least productive year in front of goal, when he managed just 16 strikes in 2022. Since then, the rebound has been emphatic.
