According to TBR Football, after the Europa League final between Manchester United and Tottenham, Alejandro Garnacho publicly expressed his frustration and questioned why the head coach kept him on the bench.
Reports later emerged that, on Saturday local time, Ruben Amorim told Garnacho in front of the entire squad to “find a new club.” As a result, the Argentine international was left out of United’s squad for the final Premier League match of the season.
Speaking to TNT Sports ahead of United’s game against Aston Villa, Peter Crouch said:
“I think the moment he gave that post-match interview and completely undermined the manager’s authority, the writing was on the wall. You just can’t talk about a Manchester United manager like that — especially someone who’s trying to establish himself and earn the fans’ support. His comments not only questioned the coach’s decisions but also embarrassed him publicly.”
Crouch emphasized:
“Those remarks completely undermined the manager’s authority. The head coach needs to assert control immediately. If he doesn’t deal with this decisively early on, the negativity will spread through the dressing room like a virus. Other players might start to follow suit and complain publicly, which would be disastrous. Garnacho is an incredibly talented young player, but with comments like that, he’s ruined his image and must be cleared out.”
Crouch did acknowledge that while Garnacho’s public criticism was inappropriate, his concerns weren’t entirely unfounded. He added:
“To be fair, he had a point. Amorim could’ve brought him on earlier. Mount’s role in the final didn’t work tactically, and maybe starting Garnacho would have been the better option — but those discussions should stay within the dressing room, not be aired in public.”
As tensions continue to rise, Garnacho now appears to be on the verge of leaving Old Trafford. Reports suggest that Chelsea showed strong interest in signing him during the January transfer window but failed to complete the move. However, TBR Football now reports that Chelsea remain in contact with Garnacho’s agent and are continuing to explore a potential summer transfer.
