According to the latest report from the Daily Mail, Rodri will undergo surgery following the FIFA World Cup and will miss Manchester City's matches at the beginning of next season.

It is reported that after representing Spain at the FIFA World Cup, Rodri will undergo surgery. While the exact nature of the procedure remains unclear, he is expected to miss the start of the new season. The recovery period following this surgery is not expected to be lengthy, though the news is undoubtedly concerning for the midfielder.

Having suffered a severe anterior cruciate ligament injury two years ago, Rodri has struggled to maintain consistent fitness. Spain will face Austria in the FIFA World Cup Round of 16 this week, and once their tournament campaign concludes, Rodri will undergo the procedure immediately. Manchester City declined to comment on the matter.

The 30-year-old Rodri currently has a contract extension offer from Manchester City on the table, though no renewal negotiations have taken place between the two parties. His current contract has only 12 months remaining, and if he does not sign a new deal by January 1st, he will be permitted to negotiate a pre-transfer agreement with overseas clubs.
