Dani Alves has taken pride in his 'magical' return to Barcelona after the Brazilian veteran made his second debut for the Catalans in their 2-1 win over Linares in the Copa del Rey.
Barcelona boss Xavi named his former team-mate in the starting line up for Wednesday night's game - the first time he has featured since returning from Sao Paulo late last year.
Alves, 38, was deployed in a midfield role for the Catalans and helped his side overturn a one-goal deficit to advance to the next round, with Ousmane Dembele and Ferran Jutgla getting on the scoresheet.
And the Brazilian has delighted in his return to the club, labelling it a 'special day' before calling on his beleaguered team-mates to continue fighting, with the Catalans in the midst of an underwhelming campaign.
'It was a special day for everything that happened,' he said via Football Espana. 'To come back, to relive moments in La Liga and the Copa. It's been magical, and we've made a great effort.
'We must learn to compete and fight until the last moment – it's only those who fight who win.'
Alves added that his deployment in midfield was decided by Xavi to bring more 'control' to the side, and the 38-year-old said that his experience can help 'make things easier' for his team-mates.
'Xavi put together a system where I could get on the ball more and control the play,' he said.
'I played between the middle and the wide positions, filling spaces. It's a position I can dominate, especially when I have players of quality beside me making things easier.'
