Frenkie de Jong has broken his promise to the Catalan club and would eventually sign for Paris Saint-Germain instead. That is what has been just reported in the various local media, including Mundo Deportivo and RAC1.

Only yesterday the French news source Paris United revealed the player has agreed on the contractual terms with PSG. The Parisians are ready to pay the necessary transfer fee worth of 75 million euros at once. Ajax have also recently pressed the sides to find a consensus on this matter as soon as possible.

No wonder Barcelona feel betrayed by the player. Last week, his highly anticipated move to the Catalan giants has been particularly sealed. Moreover, De Jong has repeatedly pledged his love towards Barcelona, Lionel Messi and Barca and Dutch great Johan Cruyff.

There are mixed reports about Barcelona's plans regarding the midfielder. They could either fight to get this transfer done and eventually remind De Jong about his 'pact' with the Catalans, as Mundo Deportivo claim. However, other sources indicate that Barca could be out of this race.

De Jong is also reportedly having doubts over Barcelona move which stem from Adrien Rabiot's potential arrival in summer. The 21-year-old Dutchman wants to be confident that he will not become a hopeless reserve in Catalonia and wonders if Barca will be able to give him enough playing time in case Rabiot moves to the La Liga side as well.
