Tottenham star Dejan Kulusevski has told his team-mates not to feel sorry for themselves as they look to turn their season around.
Spurs were soundly outperformed during the north London derby on Sunday as arch-rivals Arsenal secured a 2-0 victory.
Antonio Conte's side have been off the boil since the World Cup break and they consistently makes life hard for themselves by conceding the first goal. In the last 14 games across all competitions, they have conceded the opening goal of the match.
In the wake of their defeat to the Gunners, Swedish international Kulusevski said: 'We cannot go home and be sad.
'We have another game soon and we just have to recover good. I have no idea, honestly. What I see is that when we score first we win the games and when we don’t, it’s much less per cent (of wins).
‘It’s very hard for everybody but if we don’t start the games better we’re not going to win, so we have to stop doing that.
‘We’re trying. Nobody wants to concede first but everyone is trying. To find a solution is a little bit harder.’
Spurs players, fans and manager Conte would have been particularly disappointed with the nature of their first goal conceded against Arsenal.
It came after Bukayo Saka's cross was fumbled by keeper Hugo Lloris into the back of his own net.
Tottenham face a battle to make next season's Champions League, with the club fifth in the table, and five points off Newcastle and Manchester United above them.
Conte's position is increasingly uncertain with the club's worrying form emerging as a key factor in deciding the Italian's long-term future.
His existing deal expires in the summer, though the club have the option of extending by 12 months.
However, there is an understanding from all parties that it would be self-defeating to activate the extension if their visions for the club are not aligned.
Sportsmail has learned that the team’s results and performances have been under the spotlight behind-the-scenes at Spurs in recent months following a difficult run that has seen them win just three of their previous nine Premier League matches.
