Denmark manager Brian Riemer has aimed a sly dig at Man United over their treatment of striker Rasmus Hojlund, who is enjoying a return to form with Napoli.
The 22-year-old was sacrificed by Man United during the summer following the arrival of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.
Hojlund ended up secure a loan move to current Serie A holders Napoli where he is enjoying somewhat of a renaissance, scoring four goals in his first six games.
Denmark boss Riemer has since aimed a sly dig at the striker’s former club ahead of their 6-0 win over Belarus, in which Hojlund scored twice, on Thursday (October 9).
"Does he fit in Italian football? Yes. There was no doubt about that, because he had already proven that. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t fit in English football,” he told TipsBladet.
“On the contrary, I would almost say he fact that he is now on a well-functioning team and has players around him who take pride in doing good for others helps to make the outcome for a striker like Rasmus, who needs to be serviced. It is more important than which league you play in."
