Angel Di Maria on IG: "Today it’s time for me to return home; my career in Europe has come to an end.
Many years have gone by, I’ve been through many clubs, and I leave fulfilled thanks to so many unforgettable experiences.
It’s been 18 years in Europe, where I not only enjoyed living in beautiful cities, but also being part of great clubs, meeting wonderful people, and gaining friends who will forever stay in my heart. Every single incredible moment I’ve lived has shaped me into who I am today.
Getting knocked down, crying, getting angry, picking myself up and moving forward were also part of my journey and my growth both as a footballer and as a person, without a doubt.
I will never tire of thanking every club I played for—Benfica, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, and Juventus—for everything they did for me, for helping me grow as a player and as a person. In every club, I was lucky enough to find good teammates and great people among the staff (the cooks, kitmen, physios, doctors, and all those people who nobody sees or knows, who work tirelessly to help us). I will never forget them.
In 2007, I arrived very young, with my parents and sisters, full of fear and uncertainty, but little by little I grew up, matured, and today I’m surrounded by their love, and by the love of my wife and daughters.
Thank you so much, Portugal, Spain, England, France, and Italy, for opening the doors of your countries to me.
