Djed Spence will return to Tottenham having made ten appearances for Rennes since making the switch to France in January
Not part of the matchday squad in the past two games against Angers and Nice, a knee injury means that Spence will now miss Rennes' final four games of the campaign. Opening up on the player's injury and his return to Tottenham for treatment, Genesio also admitted that he is unsure why his team have suffered so many injuries in the second part of the campaign.
"Djed Spence injured his knee, he is out until the end of the season due to a sprain. He will also return to Tottenham to take care of himself there," explained Genesio, as reported by Rennes' official website. "I'm not used to finding excuses or opening umbrellas, but I think we underestimate the impact of all injuries, especially long ones, on our second half of the season.
"If you add it up, that's a lot. We are not going to take refuge only behind that. These are mostly joint and ligament injuries, we had five operations. It is difficult to find a link between the injuries and the causes."
