Substitute Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, another English talent, put Dortmund ahead again, but Augsburg equalised for a third time a minute later through their own addition off the bench, David Colina. Then Giovanni Reyna scored Dortmund's fourth to put them in front with 12 minutes to play.
Sebastien Haller came on in the 62nd minute, making his first competitive appearance back since being diagnosed with cancer last year.
