Jose Mourinho is keen to get back into management and Borussia Dortmund are doing the best they can to convince him to return with them.

Mourinho hasn't managed since he was sacked by Manchester United last year.

The 56-year-old has appeared on Sky Sports as a pundit but wants to return to the touchline.

Reports in German suggest that the Bundesliga side have been 'in regular contact' with Mourinho and he is their No 1 choice to take over from Lucien Favre.

According to German newspaper Sport Bild, Mourinho has already been in communication with Hans-Joachim Watzke, the Dortmund chief executive.

It is thought that Mourinho would need to take a huge drop in salary but he is understood to be learning German should the opportunity to take over present itself.

Favre's future isn't in direct doubt at Dortmund but the club are assessing their options as they plan a way to challenge Bayern Munich over the longer term.

Dortmund are fourth in the Bundesliga after eight games, having won four and drawn three. Favre's side have only lost once in the league so far.
