ESPN: Portuguese FA to discuss Ronaldo's suspension, considering leniency

According to ESPN, Ronaldo, who is currently provisionally suspended by the Portuguese FA, may receive a minimal penalty and return to the Portuguese national team in November.

According to Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) regulations, Ronaldo was provisionally suspended from the Portuguese national team, with the suspension taking effect from the moment he departed the team's training camp in Denmark last week.

The FPF Disciplinary Committee still needs to meet to determine a specific penalty for the Portuguese captain, with possible suspensions ranging from one to six months.

ESPN understands that in determining the specific penalty, the committee will consider all mitigating circumstances for Ronaldo, particularly following his public apology.

If Ronaldo receives a one-month suspension, he will be eligible for selection by Jorge Jesus for Portugal's next two UEFA Nations League matches against Wales on November 14 and Denmark on November 17.

If Ronaldo is suspended for three months, he would miss these two matches but could participate in the next stage of the competition—the Nations League quarterfinals in March 2027.

Given that Ronaldo has several other favorable factors in the internal assessment, including his outstanding 20-year record with the national team, the possibility of him receiving a six-month suspension is extremely unlikely.
