On his way to his third World Cup with the Brazilian national team, goalkeeper Ederson sees Brazil as being ‘well on the road to success’ thanks to the arrival of coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Although he was called up by the other three coaches who led Brazil in this cycle (Ramón Menezes, Fernando Diniz and Dorival Júnior), Ederson does not shy away from pointing out that Ancelotti is on another level compared to his predecessors:
'Since Ancelotti's arrival, it has been very positive for the Brazilian national team. The team needed a coach with a big name, a name that was on par with the Brazilian national team, and Ancelotti is that guy. We're not going to discuss how successful he is in Europe, but when you have a coach like Ancelotti, you're well on your way to success,’ said the goalkeeper.
In the 2-0 victory over Senegal last Saturday, Ederson returned to Brazil's starting line-up after a year. The last time was against Uruguay in November 2024.
'It's very important to see a more solid team, better when under pressure, when all 11 players press. All 11 defend, all 11 attack, but they attack while positioning themselves to avoid counterattacks or dangerous moves by the opponent,’ he said.
In seven games with Ancelotti, Brazil managed to keep a clean sheet in five. The exceptions were the defeats to Bolivia and Japan.
Asked how he assessed his performance in the match in London, Ederson commented:
'It was a good game, apart from a slight slip-up in the second half, when we almost conceded a goal, but overall it was a good, calm game. It's worth noting that it's good to be back after injuries, with the World Cup coming up soon, and being able to play 90 minutes with the national team was very good.
The national team bids farewell to 2025 this Tuesday against Senegal at 4:30 p.m. (Brasília time) in Lille, France.
