24' GOAL! England 1-0 Czech Republic (Sterling)

A wonderful goal typical of this new high-tempo England play breaks the Czech resistance for the first time, and Sancho is at the heart of it.

He's just onside to receive Kane's brilliant ball inside left-back Novak, and with space to run into now he gets into the box before squaring for Sterling, who has to stretch to squeeze it in on the slide at the far post.

47' Penalty Goal! England 2-0 Czech Republic (Kane)

PENALTY TO ENGLAND! Sterling tries to run onto a ball into the box but is blocked off by Kaderabek and the referee points to the spot!

Pavlenka goes the right way and gets a hand to Kane's penalty, which is at a decent enough height to his right, but the sheer power on the strike is enough to beat the goalkeeper and he can only deflect it into the top corner.

59' GREAT CHANCE! Sancho's shot cleared off the line

Sterling cuts back from the left of the box to Sancho who looks towards the near post, but Novak slides in to take the pace off the ball. The Czechs try to clear but whack the ball against Alli, and it rebounds up and just over the bar to safety,

62' GOAL! England 3-0 Czech Republic (Sterling)

England get another bit of luck in the build-up, but there's nothing lucky about Sterling's finish for his second of the night. Walker tries to slide the ball through for his Man City team-mate, but Novak cut sit out and tries to clear.

He only smacks the ball into Kalas' body though, and it rebounds straight to Sterling inside the box. He shows excellent awareness to turn the ball onto his left with Pavlenka trying to close him down, and he curls the ball past the stranded goalkeeper into the far corner.

68' GOAL! England 4-0 Czech Republic (Sterling)

Another bit of luck plays its part in England's fourth of the night - but Raheem Sterling could not care less as he nets a hat-trick, what a wonderful story for the Man City man who was England's boo-boy less than a year ago.

Barkley begins the move in midfield, running forward unopposed, and works it left to Sterling who has peeled off wide. He cuts into the middle and shoots from 25 yards with an effort which deflects off Celustka and beats the goalkeeper.

89' OWN GOAL! England 5-0 Czech Republic (Tomas Kalas)

Things just go to bad to worse for the Czech Republic, but England's fifth owes everything to Callum Hudson-Odoi. He shows purpose and intent to race in off the left flank before unleashing a powerful shot at Pavlenka, who gets down to palm it away.

Kalas has time to adjust his feet but he gets them in a right mess, and ends up passing it into the corner to seal a miserable night.

Match Report

Raheem Sterling scored a hat-trick as England made an impressive start to their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign with a 5-0 win over the Czech Republic at Wembley on Friday.

Gareth Southgate's Three Lions qualified for the Nations League Finals in their most recent game late last year, and the four-month break since does not appear to have done them any harm, as Sterling inspired an easy victory.

With Marcus Rashford injured, Southgate handed a first senior start to Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho and he made a strong impact, setting up Sterling's opener, before the Manchester City star won a penalty that Harry Kane converted.

The Czech Republic started the second half better, but two goals in six minutes from Sterling ended any slim hopes of a fightback, while Tomas Kalas' own goal rounded off an abysmal outing for the visitors.
