Enzo and Mudryk hit the mountains...How EPL stars are enjoying the winter break

With a number of Premier League clubs set to wait over a week before they next see action, some of the division's stars have been enjoying a much-needed winter break.

After a run of clustered December fixtures, top-flight matches have been staggered over last weekend and this weekend to allow for the completion of FA Cup or Carabao Cup fixtures, warm-weather training, and in some cases, time off.

With over 10 days until their next fixture, Mauricio Pochettino gave his side three days holiday after their slim victory over west London rivals Fulham on Saturday.

Not back in action until Tuesday January 23, when they will play the second leg of their league cup semi-final against Middlesbrough at Stamford Bridge, the Blues wasted no time jetting off to exotic locations in a bid to make the most of their free time.

Both Enzo Fernandez and Mykhailo Mudryk opted for trips to the mountains, with the World Cup winner plumping for the Swiss resort of St Mortiz.

The 22-year-old travelled with his partner Valentina Cervantes and made the most of the bright blue skies to pose for pictures against their snowy backdrop.

Ukrainian winger Mudryk also opted for snow over sand, but refused to reveal his location in a snap posted to Instagram.

Pochettino will hope both players heed the warning set by Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer - who missed half the season with the German champions after breaking his leg in a skiing accident - and choose not to take part in any winter sports whilst on their getaways.

Team-mate Noni Madueke however plumped to forgoe a relaxing break and put himself through his paces at a private warm-weather training camp.

The England youngster, who won the Under-21 European Championships last summer alongside team-mate Cole Palmer, posted a snap to his Instagram Stories with the caption 'expensive pain' whilst catching his breath amidst training drills.

The 21-year-old has only recently gained the trust of Pochettino, and appears to be doing his utmost to make sure he keeps gaining regular playing time across all competitions.

But Madueke is all but alone in choosing business over pleasure during the short break, with Newcastle stars Anthony Gordon and Bruno Guimaraes both opting to take city breaks rather than work on their form.

Former Everton prospect Gordon flew to New York during his time off, and was pictured courtside taking in a Brooklyn Nets game at the Barclay Centre.

But the 22-year-old was no talisman for the New York side, who lost to the visiting Miami Heat 95-96 on Monday evening.

In Paris, his team-mate Guimaraes joined up with family and friends to face the freezing French temperatures in the French capital, posing under the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe in minus two degree climes.

As well as a trip to iconic Parisian eatery Le Relais de l'Entrecote, the Guimaraes family also enjoyed a visit to Disneyland Paris.

The choice of destination may yet get Magpies fans a little nervous, as the player is believed to have been expressly targeted by the city's side Paris Saint-Germain during this January transfer window.

Rather than spend the time before Liverpool's next tie on January 21 in Arctic conditions, Alexis Mac Allister flew to Dubai for some winter sunshine.

The Argentina midfielder put thoughts of an upcoming mid-winter trip to Bournemouth out of his mind as he strolled down the beach next to the five-star Jumeirah Beach Hotel and shared pictures of himself dining at a nearby beach club.

Mac Allister's head coach had been particularly looking forward to the prospect of a winter break, saying after his victory against Fulham last Monday that his English 'was not good enough to put (his excitement) into words' after a hectic December.
