European champions PSG should be SCARED of Chelsea in CWC final, claims Colwill

Levi Colwill says Paris Saint-Germain should be scared of Chelsea ahead of their Club World Cup final in New Jersey – not the other way around.

While Colwill accepts the Blues are considered underdogs for this Sunday’s showdown, he believes they have attackers worth fearing also.

That includes Cole Palmer, their playmaker whose face has been plastered all over billboards in New York with the messaging: ‘Scary Good.’ You cannot stroll around Manhattan or ride the Subway without seeing his Nike advert.

Colwill told reporters before a training session on Friday: ‘It’s just one game of football and when you play for Chelsea, you’re not scared to play against anyone and that’s how we all feel.

‘We’re excited to go to the final and hopefully we can win. We totally believe in ourselves to get over the line. I believe in us. We can beat anyone so we’re going to take that confidence going into the game. We haven’t just come here to be in the final. We want to win the competition.’

PSG won 5-0 against Inter Milan in the Champions League final and 4-0 versus Real Madrid in the Club World Cup semi-finals, and Colwill continued: ‘They are an amazing team but we are not Inter or Real. We’re going to bring something different. We’re different players. We’re confident in ourselves to win the game.

‘Real Madrid are very different to us. They don’t press like us or play like us. They can’t expect us to give them the same game. We’re going to bring different things.

‘You have to respect how they press, how they play, but we’re not going to change our whole way to play them. We’ve got our plan, our identity which we’re going to stick to through the gaffer. That’s when we play our best football so let’s stick to it.

‘We’ve got this far with playing our football so why are we going to change that now?

‘Most people around the world would expect PSG to win but we don’t think that in this camp. You always want to play against the best players to see how good you really are.

‘I think they’ll be looking at our forwards and they’ll know it’s not going to be an easy game.

‘If everyone thinks we’re going to lose then we’ve got nothing to lose. We’re going to go out there, play our football, be confident and hopefully surprise everyone.’
