AC Milan veteran striker Olivier Giroud rejected a deadline day offer from Everton on Tuesday.
Sky Italia's Gianluca di Marzio reports Everton made an approach early in the day.
The Blues wanted to take Giroud on-loan to the end of the season, but the Frenchman turned them down.
Giroud was determined to stay with Milan.
The 36-year-old has a contract until the end of the season with the Rossonero.
