Ex-Arsenal star Ceballos has angry bust-up with Ancelotti over being subbed on

FORMER Arsenal loanee Dani Ceballos was left raging after Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti told him to return to the bench.

Heading into the Copa del Rey third round clash against CD Alcoyano, Ceballos was yet to feature for Madrid this season since returning from his two-year spell with the Gunners, mainly due to a serious ankle injury.

Ceballos looked set to get his first minutes of the campaign as he stripped down to his kit in the 86th minute on Wednesday.

But he was made to wait a little longer when Ancelotti told him to return to the bench for a few moments.

And the Spaniard did not take this well as he threw his hand up in disgust at the Italian.

Seconds later Ceballos did enter the fray as he replaced former Bayern Munich defender David Alaba.

But the frustration the midfielder already appears to be feeling at Madrid was evident in his prior reaction to Ancelotti.

Ceballos failed to make any sort of impact on the match in the closing stages, but will be pleased to simply get a few minutes under his belt.

During Ceballos' two seasons with Arsenal he made 77 appearances for the club, scoring two goals and assisting five more.

But with the arrival of Madrid man Martin Odegaard on loan, the Spaniard was not able to secure a permanent move to the Emirates.

Madrid won the game comfortably 3-1 to move into the last 16 of the Copa del Rey.

Strikes from Eder Militao and Marco Asensio and an own goal from Jose Juan handed Ancelotti's side a straightforward victory.

Meanwhile in La Liga, Madrid are looking to claim the domestic title they relinquished to rivals Atletico last season.

And they are going about their business in impressive fashion as they currently lead Sevilla by five points at the top of the table.

Real Betis are 13 points off Madrid in third place, followed by Atletico and Barcelona.
