Istanbul Basaksehir winger Arda Turan has been given a two-year prison sentence ahead of his side’s Europa League clash with Roma.
Arda was charged with illegal possession of a firearm, plus intent to intimidate and cause panic, dating back to an incident that took place in October 2018.
However, the 32-year-old was cleared of sexual assault and local media reports the sentence has been suspended for the time being.
The Turk is considered one of his country’s greatest-ever exports, winning Spanish titles with Atletico Madrid and Barcelona.
