Ex-Juventus president Cobolli Gigli: Spalletti deserved new contract

Former Juventus president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli is happy seeing Luciano Spalletti sign a new deal.

It was announced last week that Spalletti has signed a new deal to 2027, with an option for another year.

Cobolli Gigli said: "I think he has a good relationship with the players. It's the first time in several years that Juventus appears to be a team made up of players determined to achieve their goals and, at the same time, satisfied with having the coach they have."

He also told TMW: "Yes, he deserved it (a new contract). It seems to me that the management—who have made a few mistakes in the past in terms of bad signings—is working at the moment.

"I see (Giorgio) Chiellini's mind and and suggestions behind it. He knows Juventus better than anyone, he also speaks English and can thus communicate with (Damien) Comolli.

"Whether it's Chiellini or not, Juve's managerial machine seems to be working now."
