On July 6th, FIFPRO South America issued a statement condemning the racist remarks made by a Paraguayan senator against Mbappe.

FIFPRO Statement: Racism has no place anywhere.

FIFPRO South America condemns the racist remarks made by Paraguayan Senator Celeste Amarilla against Kylian Mbappe.

Racism is not an opinion, but a form of discrimination that deprives people of their dignity, causes exclusion, and perpetuates inequality. When such remarks come from individuals holding public office, the offense is particularly serious; their duty should be to promote a society based on respect and equality.

Football is one of the most diverse fields in the world, and this diversity must be protected. No footballer should be attacked because of their skin color, origin, identity, or any other personal characteristic.

As representatives of professional footballers in South America, we reiterate our continued commitment to eradicating racism and all forms of discrimination, both within and outside sports.

Silence and indifference only serve to normalize discrimination. In the face of racism, institutions have a responsibility to act and speak out.
