Fabian Ruiz talks about PSG's dominant victory over Real Madrid and the great form the Parisians have displayed in the Club World Cup.

- PSG rolled to a 4-0 victory over Real Madrid in the Club World Cup semi-finals

- Fabian Ruiz was one of the stars for the French side with a pair of goals

- The reigning European champions are excited for Sunday’s final against Chelsea

One would be hard-pressed to find a player with a better span of 365 days than Fabian Ruiz. Just under a year ago the Spain international played a massive role in La Roja’s conquest of UEFA EURO 2024. He then followed that with another decorated season at club level with Paris Saint-Germain, winning four trophies to date, including the 2024/25 UEFA Champions league.

The biggest prize of all could be pocketed on Sunday in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™, with PSG earning a date in the decider against Chelsea FC after a dominant 4-0 win against Real Madrid C. F. in which Ruiz tormented Los Blancos with two goals.

His performance on Wednesday in front of a packed house at MetLife Stadium in New York New Jersey earned him the Michelob Ultra Superior Player of the Match distinction. He was brimming with delight when he spoke with FIFA post-match.

“It’s a wonderful feeling. I think it was a very special match, very wonderful to be on this pitch against a great team like Real Madrid,” said Ruiz. “I think that the entire team played a great match. I’m happy about the job that we’ve done, for being the MVP, which is my first of this tournament. The truth is that it’s always something very special to be able to receive an award like this. It’s time to celebrate that we are now in another final.”

At age 29, Ruiz feels like he is playing his best football under Luis Enrique, and the fact that a memorable season could be capped with a global title just makes it all the sweeter.

“The truth is that I’m going through a really wonderful moment in my career,” he said. “I think it’s one of the best, if not the best. We’re coming off of an incredible season, we have just one match to go to round things out, so I’m very happy on a personal level but more so on a team level. We are playing very attractive and beautiful football, while at the same time the team are showing that they want to be a champion in all the tournaments, and so just one game is left for us.”

With his brace against the Spanish giants, Ruiz has catapulted himself not just into the race to win the Top Goal Scorer presented by Bank of America with three goals and one assist, but has emerged as one of the best players in the tournament.

“I know that it is so difficult to win those awards, so I’m not thinking about that but rather that we have a match on Sunday that is important and we want to finish the season off with a trophy," said Ruiz.
