Fiorentina 2-2 Juventus: Spalletti's men come back twice to earn point

  /  R47

Juventus twice came from behind to salvage a point in an entertaining 2-2 draw with Fiorentina at Stadio Artemio Franchi in Serie A.

2026/2027 Serie A

2-2

Match Report

Fiorentina took the lead early in both halves through Mateo Pellegrino and Alieu Njie, but Juventus levelled each time through Nick Woltemade and Bremer, who was also fouled in the build-up to what would have been the hosts' winner late on.

Fiorentina scored with the first clear-cut opportunity of the game, with Pote whipping a delightful corner into the box and Pellegrino rose above Woltemade to thump his header home after just four minutes.

Weston McKennie glanced a header wide as Juventus pushed for a response, while Juan Cabal forced a sprawling save out of David de Gea.

But it was Woltemade who pulled Juve level after great work from Randal Kolo Muani down the right. He drilled a low cross into the middle, and the German fired past a helpless De Gea 32 minutes in.

Woltemade almost had a second just five minutes later as he met another Kolo Muani cross, but De Gea made a reflex save with his feet to keep him out.

Franco Mastantuono was denied by Guglielmo Vicario just before the break as Fiorentina ended the half on top, and they carried that momentum into the second half.

Alex Jimenez's low cross was pushed into the crowd by Vicario, and Njie reacted quickest to fire it into the empty net nine minutes after half-time.

But Juventus were back on level terms again 12 minutes later. De Gea committed himself on a Douglas Luiz corner, but was beaten to it by Bremer, who bundled it in off his shoulder.

Kerim Alajbegovic was kept out by another top De Gea save, but it was Fiorentina who came closest to a winner when Radu Dragusin's header beat his former Tottenham team-mate Vicario for power, but the goal was ruled out for a foul on Bremer.

All-out attack cannot provide a late winner

It has been a topsy-turvy start to the 2026-27 season for Juventus, who struggled for consistency against Fiorentina, though they showed their fight to twice come from behind.

Neither side can be accused of sitting back in this one, though, as they combined for 40 shots (22 for Fiorentina and 18 for Juventus), with 12 attempts on target between them.

Luciano Spalletti will perhaps feel that Juventus deserved better, given they created chances worth 2.42 expected goals (xG) and had four Opta-defined 'big' chances.

They have often come unstuck against Fiorentina, though, having won just one of their last eight Serie A away games against the Viola (D5 L2). They have only won fewer matches on the road against Napoli (0).

But Fiorentina have equal reason to feel disappointed to share the spoils given Marco Brescianini and Mastantuono saw late chances smothered by Vicario, who made four saves to protect Juve's point, which leaves them seventh in the table.
