Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has hinted that a deal to take Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid could be finalised during the winter transfer window, with the World Cup-winning forward continuing to run down his contract at Paris Saint-Germain.
Mbappe's contract with PSG runs until the summer of 2022 and the France international will be free to negotiate about his future with any team from January 1.
"In January we will have news about Mbappe," Perez told El Debate.
"We hope that on January 1 everything can be solved."
Perez also discussed about the renovation of the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu project and offered his vision about Real Madrid's ground.
"It will be a meeting point for the entire city of Madrid," added Perez.
"There is no stadium like it and one that is in the centre of a big city like ours is."
The Real Madrid president revealed when the club are expecting to overcome the financial crisis from which the majority of the clubs are suffering following COVID-19.
"[We have gone from] 900 million euros [of income] to just over 600m euros," stressed Perez.
"It will probably take about three years to go back to the figures we were earning before the pandemic."
