Liverpool may have a weekend to remember ahead of them but the newly minted Premier League champions are already getting down to business in the transfer market

Some have accused Liverpool of being on the beach after wrapping up the Premier League title earlier this month - but the Reds are certainly not resting on their laurels when it comes to the summer transfer window.

With a deal for Jeremie Frimpong all but done, Liverpool are now said to be closing in on a monster transfer for the right wing-back's Bayer Leverkusen team-mate, Florian Wirtz, in what would be a huge statement of intent to their Premier League rivals.

But before any contracts are signed, there is the small matter of Arne Slot and Co's official coronation, which will take place after their season finale at home to Crystal Palace on Sunday.

With Liverpool poised to wrap up a season to remember, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest transfer news from Anfield...

How Wirtz was sold move

Florian Wirtz was wowed by Liverpool's ambition after talks over a potential transfer, it has been claimed. Bild have the details of the attacking midfielder's talks with Liverpool, whose desire to build on a successful maiden season under Arne Slot immediately stood out to the sought after Germany international.

The prospect of being joined by a familiar face at Anfield in Jeremie Frimpong was another sweetener, as was a stellar pitch from Slot himself.

Bayern Munich have long been considered the frontrunners to land Wirtz if he decided to seek pastures new - but Liverpool have now moved to the front of the cue for the Bayer Leverkusen star.

Bayern's bombshell statement

While all the noise surrounding Florian Wirtz points to the playmaker joining Liverpool, a statement from Bayern Munich's club president, Herbert Hainer, has surely extinguished any lingering doubts.

He confirmed that Wirtz was no longer considering a move to the German champions, revealing: “Max Eberl [sporting director] informed me that Florian Wirtz is probably leaning towards Liverpool.”

Rivals plot Doak swoop

Everton are weighing up whether to launch a charm offensive to try and convince Ben Doak to cross over to the blue half of Merseyside in the summer transfer window.

Doak, 19, had top-flight suitors in January after impressing on loan in the Championship with Middlesbrough this season. The Scotland international is likely to attract interest again this summer, thought Liverpool are not actively looking to sell.

That's according to The Telegraph, who confirm Everton's interest. The Toffees may be reluctant to meet Liverpool's £30million valuation of the winger, though.
