Arsenal slammed by pundit after capitulation against Watford leads to a draw

Graeme Souness has launched a scathing attack on Arsenal after Unai Emery's side failed to hold onto a two goal lead in Sunday afternoon's draw against Watford.

Arsenal had lead 2-0 in the first half after a brace from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang gave the Gunners a comfortable half time lead.

And Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness has laid into Arsenal's notoriously leaky defence for letting the game slip.

‘They capitulated. Proper teams don't play like that,' he said. 'They brought on some kids. That was a game when it was 2-1 and it was time to dig in. When the kids came on it was all over the place, it was like a game of basketball.

‘Persisting with playing out from the back was going to cost them a goal, and they were lucky it was only one.'

The former Liverpool captain, who is best known for his ability to marshal a midfield, has slammed Arsenal's midfield trio of Granit Xhaka, Matteo Guendouzi and Dani Ceballos for being overrun in the middle of the park.

‘Doucoure and Capoue completely dominated Arsenal's midfield in the second half.

‘They were warned about it. This was coming. Sloppy, sloppy play. Even if gets that, Guendouzi, what is he going to do with it. It's plainly not working. Change it.

‘Arsenal today in that second half were like a semi-professional team. They weren't learning from their mistakes. Players today are reluctant to take responsibility for the decisions out there.’
