France to face Belgium in the RO16 stage of the Euros

  /  autty

France will face Belgium in the RO16 stage of the Euros. Les Diables Rouges have concluded their group stage as runners-up of Group E on goal difference, which means they will face the runners-up of Group D, Les Bleus, for the start of the Euros’ knock-out phase. France v Belgium is set to be played on Monday, June 1st, at 6pm CET, at Düsseldorf. It will be the first time Didier Deschamps’ team faces Belgium since the 2021 Nations League semi-finals when France defeated their red neighbors at Turin’s Allianz Stadium (3-2). France were already due to face Belgium twice this fall, as part of the 2024-2025 Nations League.

It was all to play for this Wednesday in Group E as all four teams making up the group were level on points. Belgium were held to a goalless draw by Ukraine at Stuttgart whilst Slovakia shared the spoils (1-1) with eventual group winners Romania at Frankfurt. France and Belgium have been handed what is arguably the tougher half of the bracket, considering Spain, Portugal as well as tournament hosts Germany also lie in this half.
