Frank Lampard has aimed a thinly-veiled dig at Chelsea's managerial ways.
The Blues are 12th in the Premier League table after a season to forget which has seen them sack both Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter before appointing Lampard on an interim basis.
But Lampard has lost all five games in charge since his return to the club and the payers look shot for confidence.
They face Arsenal next, who are competing for the league title after missing out on Champions League football this year and going through a tough patch when Mikel Arteta was appointed.
Lampard, who himself was sacked as manager by the club in 2021, compared Chelsea's situation to that of the Gunners, praising the Blues' London rivals for sticking with the Spaniard when other clubs might not have done.
'It's interesting to compare,' Lampard said. 'We all had an insight to Arsenal through the Amazon series.
'There's a long process to get where you want and I remember playing Mikel's early teams and sometimes it was a five, sometimes a four. Now you see they have a clear identity.
'If we talk about it as just this season - you have to go back to the tough periods.
'I saw times when the manager was being questioned and that process can take two or three years. Another club may have changed manager two or three times.'
Owner Todd Boehly has already spent well over £500million on incomings since taking over the club last year and is expected to invest again in the summer.
The squad however will be trimmed and several players will leave. For the meantime, though, the players need picking up, with Lampard admitted confidence is shot.
'They're low on confidence and low on performance,' Lampard said. 'I've been here in periods where confidence is low. In history we managed to get it back through hard work, level of the squad, and we changed manager a lot.
'It's different now in terms of the modern player and what expectations are. You shouldn't be talking about team confidence but it's clearly an issue at the minute.'
