Friday forecast: Madrid Derby plays in Copa final; Mou eager to stop Liverpool

  /  Dafa316

Another weekend with several huge league clashes is coming as we bring you all you need to know ahead of it.

Real Madrid vs Atletico

Kick-Off: UTC 2020/1/12 18:00

Probable line-ups

Real Madrid: Courtois, Mendy, Varane, Ramos, Carvajal, Kroos, Casemiro, Valverde, Isco, Modric, Jovic.

Atletico: Oblak, Trippier, Savic, Felipe, Lodi, Correa, Herrera, Partey, Saul, Felix, Morata.

Real Madrid focus

Madrid remain without their first choice attacking trio with Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale and Eden Hazard all missing the trip to Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid will once again rely on the ingenuity and technique of their maestros in midfield after Isco, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos all found the net against Los Che.

In the interest of keeping his key players fresh, Zidane let those who started against Los Che attend "a spa session at the hotel the team are staying at," according to Marca's Jose Felix Diaz and Chris Winterburn.

Zidane's side will know however that in the clash with their cross-city rivals this weekend they are likely to be afforded less chances.

Atletico focus

Atletico for their part are without forwards Thomas Lemar and Diego Costa. Centre-back Jose Maria Gimenez alos missed the victory against Barcelona but could return on Sunday.

Captain Koke will be out for the final, so other Atleti stars must stand out to make up for his absence.

Atletico flexed their attacking muscle by manufacturing goals for Saul, Alvaro Morata and Angel Correa.

Four of the last six meetings between Los Blancos and Los Rojiblancos have seen fewer than three goals and the temptation must be to back another low-scoring affair.

Predictions

Real Madrid 1-0 Atletico

Tottenham vs Liverpool

Kick-Off: UTC 2020/1/11 17:30

Probable line-ups

Tottenham focus

Moussa Sissoko has been ruled out until April following knee surgery and joins Harry Kane, Hugo Lloris, Ben Davies and Tanguy Ndombele on the sidelines.

Jan Vertonghen could start at left-back here should Jose Mourinho elect to revert to a 4-2-3-1 system, though Ryan Sessegnon is an option for the Spurs boss. Danny Rose is also hopeful of coming into contention of facing the league leaders.

Erik Lamela is in contention for a first start since October with Son Heung-Min set to start in attack.

Liverpool focus

Nathaniel Clyne, Fabinho, James Milner and Naby Keita all miss the trip to Tottenham.

Joel Matip, Dejan Lovren and Xherdan Shaqiri are all closing in on returns to fitness, but the trip to north London is likely to come too soon for the trio.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is expected to start in midfield, though Adam Lallana is an option for Jurgen Klopp.

Whoscored predictions

Tottenham 0-2 Liverpool

Crystal Palace vs Arsenal

Kick-Off: UTC 2020/1/11 12:30

Probable line-ups

Arsenal focus

Arsenal's injury list has eased of late and Mikel Arteta is without two confirmed absentees in Kieran Tierney and Calum Chambers.

The Gunners boss will hope that Hector Bellerin can shake off a thigh problem to feature, but Arteta is unlikely to risk his compatriot before he has fully recovered from injury.

As such, Arteta could name the same XI that started the 2-0 win over Manchester United on New Year's Day.

A 2-0 win over Manchester United on New Year's Day ended Arsenal six-match home league winless run and the Gunners are unbeaten in four on the road. Having lost only one of their last six visits to Selhurst Park, Arsenal will hope to end an injury-ravaged Palace's unbeaten run at home.

Indeed, with morale boosted following back-to-back wins, Arsenal could eke out a win in this London derby.

Whoscored predictions

Crystal Palace 1-2 Arsenal

Cagliari vs Milan

Kick-Off: UTC 2020/1/11 14:00

Probable line-ups

Milan focus

Krzysztof Piatek is being linked with a move to Tottenham and should drop out of the team for Zlatan Ibrahimovic here.

Davide Calabria should fill in the right full-back slot in place of Andrea Conti in another change for the away side.

Milan were held to a dull 0-0 against Sampdoria and find themselves stuck in midtable.

Whoscored predictions

Cagliari 2-1 Milan

Man Utd vs Norwich

Kick-Off: UTC 2020/1/11 15:00

Probable line-ups

Man Utd focus

Harry Maguire has torn a muscle in his hip and faces a spell out to deepen Manchester United's injury problems. Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba remain sidelined for the foreseeable future and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer desperately needs to flex United's financial muscle in the transfer window.

Phil Jones didn't suffer a hamstring injury against Manchester City on Tuesday as first feared, instead suffering from cramp. With Axel Tuanzebe, Marcos Rojo and Eric Bailly all ruled out, Solskjaer will need Jones available or be left with just one fit centre-back.

Jesse Lingard turned in another poor display in United's 3-1 defeat at home to City in midweek and should be dropped here. Daniel James looks exhausted at the moment and could also do with time out of the team, though Solskjaer has limited options unless he dips into the academy.

United improved against City following Nemanja Matic's introduction at half-time and the Serbain midfielder should come into the side here. Juan Mata could also get a start in place of Andreas Pereira, who offered little against City other than a lot of meaningless running.

Brandon Williams may be saved for next week's FA Cup replay with Wolves, which may faciliate Luke Shaw's return to the team after he missed out on the matchday squad altogether on Tuesday despite travelling. Ashley Young is also an option in what could be his last home game before joining Serie A side Inter.

Manchester United were easily beaten 3-1 at home to Manchester City on Tuesday in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi final. Confidence will be low.

Man Utd 1-1 Norwich

Chelsea vs Burnley

Kick-Off: UTC 2020/1/11 15:00

Probable line-ups

Chelsea focus

Callum Hudson-Odoi will push for a starting berth on Saturday after an eye-catching display in the FA Cup last weekend.

Marcos Alonso and Olivier Giroud are linked with moves away this month and are not expected to feature here.

Mateo Kovacic will hope to return to the starting XI after being dropped for their last league game.

Chelsea have been dropping points for fun in the Premier League since the end of November and need to get their act together or risk dropping out of the top four. They start the weekend five points clear of fifth.

Whoscored predictions

Chelsea 2-1 Burnley

Inter vs Atalanta

Kick-Off: UTC 2020/1/11 19:45

Probable line-ups

Inter focus

Inter fans will have been overjoyed to see Alexis Sánchez and Nicolò Barella return to the squad and take their place on bench for Monday's meeting with Napoli.

However, Sánchez didn't make an appearance and Barella probably wishes he hadn't as the 22-year-old picked up his fifth yellow card of the season, ruling him out of the Atalanta clash.

Yet, the biggest obstacle Conte will have to overcome with is the suspension picked up centre-back Milan Skriniar, hitherto an ever-present for Inter in all competitions.

This season, the 24-year-old Slovakian international has transformed from an eager and perhaps rash, talented youngster, into one of the best defenders in Serie A and his loss will be a huge blow for the Nerazzurri as they come up against the top scorers in the division.

Stefano Sensi, one of the revelations of the season after contributing to seven goals in his first nine Serie A games for Inter, has made two cameo appearances either side of the winter break, but Saturday may be too soon for a player who has already had the same injury twice this campaign.

Inter know that a victory will guarantee them status as winter champions, which is a great incentive for Antonio Conte's side. This is a very tough game, however, and should feature plenty of goalscoring chances.

Whoscored predictions

Inter 1-1 Atalanta

Aston Villa vs Man City

Kick-Off: UTC 2020/1/12 16:30

Probable line-ups

Man City focus

Leroy Sane and Aymeric Laporte remain sidelined though both are thought to be nearing a return to fitness.

Elsewhere Pep Guardiola has a fully fit squad to choose from and it will be interesting to see who gets the nod up front, with both Aguero and Jesus left on the bench in midweek.

Ederson will return in goal in place of Claudio Bravo but elsewhere the team may remain largely unchanged, with Raheem Sterling perhaps in line for a rest.

Villa expended a lot of energy to claim a positive result in the Carabao Cup in midweek, while Manchester City - who have had a days extra rest - got the job done by half time against United and were able to ease off.

Whoscored predictions

Aston Villa 0-3 Man City

Roma vs Juventus

Kick-Off: UTC 2020/1/12 19:45

Probable line-ups

Roma: Lopez, Florenzi, Mancini, Smalling, Kolarov, Diawara, Veretout, Zaniolo, Pellegrini, Perotti, Dzeko.

Juventus: Szczesny, Cuadrado, Demiral, Bonucci, Sandro, Rabiot, Pjanic, Matuidi, Ramsey, Dybala, Ronaldo.

Juventus focus

Juventus had a strong start to 2020 as they defeated Cagliari 4-0 at home. It was a dominant performance by Juventus as they controlled 65% of the possession and had 20 shots.

Cristiano Ronaldo was the star player for Juventus with the winger scoring 3 times. Gonzalo Higuain also scored for Juventus.

As it currently stands, Juventus have 45 points from their 18 games and are 2nd on the Serie A ladder. With Inter Milan playing well, Juventus must continue winning if they wish to defend their title.

Predictions

Roma 1-1 Juventus
