Arsenal defeated Hull City 1-0 at home in the 10th round of the Premier League, recording another clean sheet. After the match, Arsenal defender Gabriel spoke to the club's official media about the team's performance, their defensive stability, their 10th clean sheet across all competitions this season, and the importance of heading into the international break with a win.
Gabby, another win today. How satisfied are you with the team's performance?
Gabriel: Yes, we are very satisfied with the team's performance. The most important thing was to get the three points. We defended very solidly. I think we played well, so we are really happy to have secured these three points.
Today’s game also required patience. What were your instructions at halftime?
Gabriel: The halftime instructions were to keep pushing forward because we knew we would create chances to score. I think we did very well in the second half.
And another clean sheet. That’s what makes you happiest, right? Keeping a clean sheet?
Gabriel: Of course. We always talk about this and discuss it often. We know that as long as we do not concede, we have a great chance of winning the game. So, we are very happy to have kept another clean sheet.
I think this is your 10th clean sheet across all competitions this season. Do you think the defense is even stronger than it was last season?
Gabriel: Of course. As I said before, when we have a strong team and a solid defense, we don't give our opponents a chance to score. I think this season – how many is it now? – we have 10 clean sheets across all competitions. This is our standard, and we must maintain it.
Finally, you are now heading off to represent your country. Is it important to go into national team duty on the back of a win?
Gabriel: Of course, I think it's very important. Last time, we lost before leaving for international duty, but this time everyone can go away happy, with a smile, and then come back even stronger.
