Getafe Club de Fútbol coach José Luis Bordalás spoke to the media ahead of the match against Real Madrid, corresponding to Matchday 33 of LaLiga EA Sports.
Bordalás, who has a wonderful relationship with Ancelotti, whom he once again praised, reviewed the team hours before playing against the reigning European and domestic champions. The Azulones are aiming to seal their survival, a goal that would be practically achieved with a win.
Worried and alarm bells ringing?: "No, no alarm bells. It's the reality of the competition. We know it's hard to get points. Nothing's settled, I mentioned this after Valladolid. It seemed like if the team didn't get into Europe we could be talking about a bad season, and this shows the reality that it's hard to get points and win. We still have a lot to do. We've had a very good start to 2025, but we have to close the gap on our goal, which is none other than safety."
Rival : "I always say that there's never a good time to face Real Madrid . They're one of the best teams in the world and are still in the game in two competitions. They haven't stopped winning titles. We know the difficulties. The difference is huge in everything. It's going to be tremendously difficult, very complicated. I'm one of those who thinks they're not thinking about the Cup. They're still in the game in LaLiga and they have to win games to get closer to Barcelona."
Certain absences : "Nyom, Diego Rico, and Uche are suspended. We're not looking at the absences, we're looking at the players we have. We have to put in a fabulous performance; we have to be at 110%."
The big teams suffer at the Coliseum : "We always approach matches to win. We would have liked to have had better results at home, although we have been conditioned in some, like the last one. In some ways, we haven't gotten the results we expected, but we have to be aware that we are a small club that has struggled from the start. We have to demonstrate, take care of, and defend that value every game, starting tomorrow."
Borja Mayoral's physical condition : "We've been monitoring him and we've introduced him when we think it's necessary. He's not 100% fit."
Without Kylian Mbappé : "He's a magnificent player, world-class, and I always say that I like the best players to be there. The matches have greater appeal, and whenever there's any absence of high-level players in any team, it's not good for football. Sometimes these things happen, but Madrid has enough squad to replace anyone."
Possible dismissal of Carlo Ancelotti : "I'm not thinking about that possibility, I have great respect for Carlo. I admire him, as I do for all coaches. I'm not the person who should decide whether he should be questioned or not. I don't think he should be because what Carlo has achieved is very difficult for anyone to achieve again. I don't think so, he's still alive in two national competitions and has won practically everything. There's no debate about Carlo, he's the coach Real Madrid have and the best at the moment."
