According to Ghanaian media quoting the Ghanaian Ministry of Sports, the Ghanaian Minister of Sports has officially lodged a complaint with Canada, demanding a review of the decision, after Canada refused to grant a visa to Ghana's key midfielder, Partey.

Partey was denied entry due to sexual assault allegations dating back to 2025, thus missing Ghana's group stage match against Panama. He was stopped directly upon entry when the Ghanaian team traveled from Boston to Canada for preparations. The Canadian side stated that he currently faces multiple rape and sexual assault charges.
Ghana's Minister of Sports, Kofi Adams, responded strongly, stating that Canada's actions violate international rules and emphasizing that he should not be considered guilty until proven guilty, and has formally requested Canada to review the decision through official channels.
Currently, Partey can still participate in the group stage matches held in the United States, but if the ban remains unchanged, he may be unable to play again if Ghana advances and the knockout stage is held in Canada.
