Guardiola agrees with Klopp over Todd Boehly's All-Star match idea

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola echoed Jurgen Klopp’s feelings on the mooted Premier League All-Star match proposed by Todd Boehly.

Top flight managers have voiced criticism of the idea, floated by the Chelsea owner at a conference in New York.

Klopp’s views on a north versus south exhibition were strident and centred on the lack of time in football’s hectic calendar.

And the Liverpool manager has an ally in Guardiola, with the pair often aligned on scheduling problems.

‘I don’t have an opinion on that, not at all,’ Guardiola said before adding: ‘I’m with Jurgen, it’d be nice if they gave us a date when we should play.’

City go to Wolves on Saturday looking to overtake Arsenal at the tp of the Premier League before the Gunners face Brentford later in the weekend.

Guardiola has Aymeric Laporte back in training but the centre half is unlikely to be fit, while Kyle Walker is also striving to prove his fitness.

Erling Haaland – who has 13 goals in eight appearances since a summer move from Borussia Dortmund – picked up the Premier League player of the month on Friday.

‘He’s exceptional, I’ve said it many times,’ Guardiola added. ‘I think his ambition is to be better. He’s a perfect person to manage, a nice guy.

‘With the quality he has he can continue to do what he’s done. We didn’t add much (to his game).’
