Manchester United star Harry Maguire is out of contract at the end of the season with Red Devils chiefs in a dilemma over whether to offer him an extended deal at Old Trafford

Harry Maguire’s agent has held talks with clubs in Italy and Turkey as his contract ticks down. The England defender sees his current Manchester United deal run out at the end of the campaign.
He is free to hold talks with foreign clubs this month regarding a Bosman move. And while a final decision has yet to be made on the 32-year-old’s future, it appears that his agent is getting some options together should he bring to an end his Old Trafford spell.
According to The Athletic, clubs in both Turkey and Italy have been in touch with Maguire’s agent. Talks appear to have not progressed beyond initial enquiries and it remains to be seen whether Maguire would be interested in a move abroad.
It is detailed that the defender is happy living where he is and has an immediate target of helping the club back into the Champions League. And that could well bolster his chances of earning a new deal.

A place back at Europe’s top table will add considerably to the club’s revenue streams, which would give the club more scope to renew Maguire’s contract, which sits as one of the most lucrative at the club.
It is further suggested that the offer of a new deal will likely boil down to money and the length of contract being offered. Financials are not the only consideration for Red Devils chiefs when it comes to potentially keeping Maguire around.
Strengthening the club’s midfield is a priority for the club in the upcoming summer transfer window but they also want a defensive leader, Maguire potentially fitting that bill. Michael Carrick also appears to be a big fan of the defender, having started him in each of his opening two wins against Manchester City and Arsenal.
Maguire also seems to be relishing life under the former midfielder. Speaking after the win vs Arsenal, he said: “Michael's [Carrick] come in, he's been brilliant with us, he's brought a fresh energy in, the group's really galvanised. Two tough games, everybody's probably thinks we come away from them with not many points but to win both is magnificent."

Maguire has made 258 appearances for Man United since signing for £80m from Leicester City in 2019. West Ham previously agreed a deal to sign him in 2023 but that move did not go through.
The defender previously spoke out on his future in the summer. He said: “Over the next few months they'll sit down and we'll have a conversation about where we want to go and if they want to extend.
“I have something in my mind about what I want to do and what I want to be. It's an amazing club to play for and you'd be silly if you wanted to jump out of it as soon as you could.”
