Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has defended Jesse Lingard's dismal Manchester United form after he was substituted before the hour mark against Crystal Palace.
Lingard, 26, made way for 17-year-old Mason Greenwood on 51 minutes and a number of United supporters sardonically cheered his removal in the 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford.
Although Lingard's place in the line-up for Saturday's game at Southampton appears to be in jeopardy, Lingard was not criticised by his manager.
"No," Solskjaer replied when asked if he had any concerns about Lingard's form. "We stick together and Jesse's not scored any goals in the last three games, no, but he's been a big part of our team and will continue being an important part.
"The energy he gives us is lively, but we felt Mason had to come on and create something and we'll see more of Mason."
