Henderson honoured to represent England at fourth World Cup

Jordan Henderson feels "very honoured" to have the opportunity to represent England at a fourth World Cup.

The Brentford midfielder has featured in the World Cup in 2014, 2018 and 2022, starting in 10 of his 11 appearances for the Three Lions.

Henderson's international career looked to be over in 2023 when he left Liverpool for Saudi Arabia, before joining Ajax, a string of moves which saw him omitted from England's Euro 2024 squad.

However, after a successful campaign with Brentford in 2025-26, which saw the Bees finish ninth in the Premier League and outside the European spots on goal difference, Henderson has made his way into Thomas Tuchel's side.

"I think everybody knows what England means to me, with my whole career representing my country," said Tuchel.

"So I’m very honoured, very lucky to have this opportunity. But for me, it’s the same as always, to be the best version of myself, to be ready to help the team on and off the pitch and give absolutely everything to help this team be successful.

"The last few years has been a bit of a roller coaster, to say the least, but I’ve worked very hard to be in this position and made a lot of sacrifices, and I’m just very grateful and honoured to be here.

"It’s about giving absolutely everything to make the nation back home very proud of us and to do that, we need to just be ourselves."

England's World Cup campaign begins on June 17 against Croatia, while they will also face Ghana and Panama in Group L.

Prior to the tournament, Tuchel's side will go up against New Zealand and Costa Rica in warm-up games in the United States.
