Henderson trains with Ajax for the first time since joining from Al-Ettifaq

Jordan Henderson has taken part in his first training session at Ajax following his move form Al-Ettifaq.

The 33-year-old made a hasty exit from the Saudi Pro League side after failing to settle in the country since leaving Liverpool last summer, putting pen to paper on a two-and-a-half year deal in Amsterdam.

Despite much fanfare in the Dutch capital surrounding Henderson's arrival, Brexit meant John van't Schip's side had to apply for, and be granted, a work permit before Henderson could feature for his new club.

The former Liverpool captain watched on as his new team beat RKC Waalwijk 4-1 in the Eredivisie on Sunday, with Brian Brobbey scoring twice in the first-half for the Dutch strugglers.

Now, Henderson is able to train with his side and could be set to make his debut when Ajax take on Heracles in league action on Saturday.

Ajax shared an image of Henderson running on social media in his first session, with another post featuring the midfielder walking out to training with his team-mates and greeting the person filming.

He was following right-back Devyne Rensch and midfielder Benjamin Tahirovic out onto the training pitch, but cut a lonely figure as he walked behind the pair.
