In a recent interview, former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey heaped high praise on Germany star Florian Wirtz, highlighting his exceptional technical qualities and growing influence.

On Wirtz’s abilities, Heskey said:
“If you give Wirtz space, he will absolutely tear you apart. His movements are compact, his tempo is rapid, and everything he does is incredibly precise. Other players have to react to what he does—and if they can’t, they’ll pay the price.”
Heskey also noted that Wirtz still needs time to fully adapt to the higher intensity and physical demands of the Premier League, should he ever make the move:
“He’s not yet fully equipped for the relentless pace and robust challenges week in, week out in England—but that’s something he can develop.”
When asked to compare Wirtz to other elite talents, Heskey offered nuanced parallels:
“In terms of playing style, I’d probably liken him to Morgan Rogers or Phil Foden—creative, agile, and intelligent between the lines. And if he’s given a more liberated role, he could be truly unstoppable.”
Most strikingly, Heskey elevated Wirtz’s value to that of one of Europe’s most indispensable players:
“If we’re talking about a player’s importance to his team—not just goals or assists, but overall impact—I’d put Wirtz on the same level as Harry Kane.”
