The Brazilian has been left out of PSG’s squad to face Montpellier due to muscular fatigue.
PSG forward Neymar has suffered a minor setback just after showing signs of improvement recently. The Brazilian was not included in PSG’s squad for Wednesday’s Ligue 1 match against Montpellier. According to the club’s medical report, he is suffering from “muscle fatigue” and, although the injury time was not specified, he should theoretically return on Saturday to faceToulouse at the Parc des Princes.
On Sunday, despite the 1-1 draw against Reims, the former Barcelona player scored the only goal for Christophe Galtier’s side and was very much involved in the game. He was, according to French outlet L’Équipe, the best of the front three nd his ankle injury, which had prevented him from performing at his best in the few games after the World Cup, was a thing of the past.
This season he has scored 17 goals and provided 15 assists in 25 games in all competitions. After the World Cup, his performance dropped significantly, seeing red on 28 December against Strasbourg and also struggling to recover in the defeat against Rennes on 15 January, before scoring against Reims last Sunday.
PSG will therefore have to play in Montpellier without one of their best players. Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé, possibly alongside Ekitike or Carlos Soler, who is Galtier’s big doubt until the last minute, will accompany the two top scorers from the World Cup in Qatar. Neymar will make his comeback on Saturday against Toulouse before facing an endless marathon of matches in February that will clearly determine the future of PSG’s season.
