Harry Kane has a shot at the Euro 2020 Golden Boot when England face Italy in Sunday's final at Wembley but where is the current captain on the all-time list?
Harry Kane will be looking to lead England to major tournament glory for the first time since 1966 when England face Italy at Wembley Stadium on Sunday 11 June in the Euro 2020 final. The Three Lions captain will lead Gareth Southgate's side out for the country's first international final since the World Cup on home soil, when England beat West Germany 4-2 to spawn a terrace chant and usher in 55 years of subsequent hurt.
Kane's winning extra-time goal against Denmark took the Tottenham forward to four for the tournament, which also opens up the possibility of the 27-year-old claiming the Golden Boot. His Portugal counterpart Cristiano Ronaldo currently leads the standings with five goals and an assist - the criteria by which a tiebreaker is decided according to UEFA - with Patrick Schick on five goals but without having teed up a teammate in the Czech Republic's run to the quarter-finals.
That leaves Kane needing either two goals against Italy, or a goal and two assists to finish the tournament as the outright winner of the goalscorers' prize. One goal and one assist will lead to a tie between Ronaldo and Kane, although a Ciro Immobile hat-trick would also lead to a three-way tie that would be decided by the fewest number of minutes played by the scorers in question.
A Kane double would take the Spurs striker to 40 international goals for England, level with Michael Owen but still well short of Wayne Rooney's all-time record for the Three Lions of 53.
Rooney's record
The former Everton, Manchester United, DC United and Derby County forward scored his first goal for England in 2003 in a European Championship qualifying match against Macedonia. The then-teenager took the subsequent tournament by storm, scoring four times as England were eliminated in the quarter-finals by Portugal, a game Rooney played only 27 minutes of due to an injury in one of the great "what-ifs" of England's major tournament history.
Although he never scored an international hat-trick, Rooney would eventually surpass Sir Bobby Charlton's long-standing record of 49 England goals in September 2015, when he found the net against Switzerland at Wembley to bring up his half century.
Rooney would end his international career with 53 goals, the current England record and one that only Kane, as the only active player in the current top 10 list, has a chance of bettering among the current crop of England players.
