According to The Athletic, Lucas Gourna-Douath is undergoing a medical at Hull City, with the two clubs agreeing on a €4 million (£3.4 million) transfer fee. The 23-year-old Gourna-Douath has also agreed to personal terms and is expected to sign a five-year contract.

Gourna-Douath joined Le Havre in France on loan in the second half of last year, making 15 appearances in Ligue 1, with the team ultimately finishing 14th. The 23-year-old came through the Saint-Étienne academy and moved to Salzburg in 2022 at the age of 18, signing a five-year contract with the Austrian club.

He frequently played as a defensive midfielder in his first two seasons, helping Salzburg win their 17th Austrian top-flight title in the 2022-23 season. However, his position in the squad subsequently declined, and he joined Roma on loan in February 2025 with an option to buy, which Roma did not activate.

Hull City has been active in the transfer market since winning promotion to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs in May, having already signed seven players, including goalkeeper Alexandros Paschalakis from Olympiacos for a club-record fee, Jack Butland from Rangers, and Matt Targett on a free transfer.
